Book Fairs as Educational Spaces
on Feb 01, 2022
We often see children and teachers taking a stroll in the aisles of book fairs but unfortunately, their presence is rare. There is immense potential in these spaces to educate children as they harbour ample information.
We see a sheer number of books at large book fairs and the amount is unmatchable. A myriad of avid readers gather and show enthusiasm, excitedly exchange conversations about books, read and bulk buy. It holds large amounts of informational content which can be beneficial for children to learn and it is an interesting place where kids can gain interest in books.
Even bookstores are fun, a large book store at Allahbad, in particular, has overwhelmed people with its range of variety and books in it. This small book store in Banaras is filled with interesting conversations. It’s shocking how a small space manages to create a big community of readers. Books open our hearts and minds, it can definitely do wonders for kids.
Bookstores and book fairs allow us to be present in the midst of a large number of books.
To quote Neil Gaimain, “A book is a dream that you hold in your hands.”
These spaces introduce people to new authors and books, help them to bring diversity in their choice of books. New varieties can bring a whole new vision that people are not even aware of.
Jamila Rizvi once said, "A trip to the bookshop is the ultimate exercise in empathy. Within it, you will find endless opportunities to see and understand the world from someone else’s point of view." Bookstores and book fairs also allow us to meet other book lovers and like-minded people.
In conclusion, Book Fairs and stores are one of the best educational spaces as they have a lot of potential to teach kids, make them aware, and help them develop new interests.
